One night many months ago, I was horribly, horribly depressed. Heart tearing to pieces, can’t stop crying, I wish the world would end today kind of depressed. I was at such a low point in my life, and I felt incredibly alone and isolated from everyone and anyone in my life.

I held on so tightly to this song. For some people, music is just something they listen to on the radio, that they hum along with and sing without really thinking about the lyrics; they just like the beat, they like the hot guy/girl singing the song, they like the music video.

This particular live performance of ayaka’s I believe touched my soul. So many of her other songs see accolades and rave reviews, but when I need something to hold onto, it is this song - the soulful lyrics, the emotional performance, the depth of the instrumental accompaniments - that I close my eyes to.
